About CMMG

CMMG was established in 2002, when John, Jeff, Gretchen, and Stephanie Overstreet made the decision to create a quality AR rifle that can be afforded by everyone. Since that time, things have continued to get better and better. Although the nature of our business continues to evolve, one thing does not—our commitment to meet each and every morning to pray for God’s wisdom in managing the enormous responsibility that comes with this business. By His grace, we have grown every year!  CMMG is constantly looking for new ways to improve our products, processes and company at large. Both our customer service and product lineup continue to be second to none, and all of our rifles and firearms parts are made in the United States from the best materials available. CMMG guarantees its products against defects in material or workmanship for the life of the product.  CMMG Inc. will repair, replace or substitute any product(s) if a defect in material or workmanship is found.

Radial Delayed Blowback

While working to deliver an AR platform chambered in .45ACP, CMMG quickly realized the need to compensate for substantial recoil impulse of the cartridge. Years of development culminated in an entirely new operating system for the AR called Radial Delayed Blowback.

Unlike typical direct blowback systems, CMMG’s Radial Delayed Blowback (patent pending) uses a bolt that is forced to rotate and unlock, slowing the bolt carrier group enough to safely cycle. This delay directs more gas down the barrel resulting in cleaner function and real advantages when utilizing a suppressor.

The benefits of Radial Delayed Blowback are most evident in the reduction of weight in the carrier and buffer. Not only does this system mean you have a lighter rifle, the felt recoil is noticeably less than on a straight blowback system. These benefits not only apply to .45ACP, but have also been utilized in CMMG firearms chambered in 9mm, .40S&W and 5.7x28mm as well.

Mid-Sized Platform

The mid-sized platform was first introduced to the market via CMMG’s flagship Mk47, chambered in 7.62×39. Rather than build the Mk47 on a traditional AR15-sized receiver set, CMMG created a new mid-sized platform centered around the shortened AR10 receiver set. The primary benefit of this platform is that is uses a larger, AR10-sized bolt face (POWERBOLT) in order to more durably accommodate the wider case diameter of the 7.62×39 round. The shortened receiver sets also reduced the overall weight when compared to a standard AR10 while still offering the modularity that the AR is known for.

The mid-sized platform has also been used to safely and reliably chamber additional calibers that, because of a combination of case diameter and bolt thrust, have been problematic in standard AR15 receivers. Both the .458 SOCOM and 6.5 Grendel are offered in CMMG’s MkW mid-sized platform and because if its POWERBOLT Technology, are able to fully realize their true potential.

Conversion Kits

For nearly a decade, CMMG’s patented .22LR AR Conversion Kits have been the most trusted and reliable method for shooting rimfire with your standard AR15 chambered in 5.56. The transition is also incredibly simple: Take out the bolt carrier group from your AR15 and drop in the CMMG AR Conversion and you’re ready to go. Each .22LR Conversion Kit comes with at least one CMMG .22LR magazine that fits in your standard AR15 magwell.

Along with the .22LR Conversion Kits, CMMG also offers a 9mm AR Conversion Magazine that allows you to shoot 9mm using your standard AR15 lower and a proprietary CMMG Radial Delayed Blowback upper. The conversion allows you to use your MagPul PMAG Genii/III that allows for 9mm loading.

With the 9mm AR Conversion Magazine and the .22LR AR Conversion Kit, CMMG allows you to shoot three different calibers with one AR15 lower.
