I have tried to meter W296 on my Dillon 550b but i alwasy get leakage. do you have any tips to prevent this?
Henry: I have not had that problem on the 650. Are you expanding and charging in the same station?
Just a little leakage. When i lower the shellplate I get a little “sprinkle” of powder on the shellplate. If i raise the ram then tap the handle agains the bottom of the storke this helps. I was just curious because the 650 seems to have no problem with it.
yes i am expanding and charging at the same station
You may try a powder such as Alliant 2400 for magnum loads (are you loading 44mag or 357mag?). Ball powders like H-110/W296 can leak more…
What kind of lube are you using on your cases? Any chance you have too much and the powder is sticking to it? I get that with rifle powders and case lube some times.
I don’t usually worry about small leakage/spillage, but it’s good to have things stay clean!
I’m not using any lube. I am loading 357 magnum. 125 grain XTP on top of 20 grains 296
I have some 2400 . I’ll give it a try the next time i do a batch of 357 magnum.
It’s not just a little leakage. its a small sprinkle everytime i lower the shellplate
