The Dillon XL750 is a very popular progressive reloader among both pistol and rifle shooters. We recently completed a massive bulk .223 loading process on this press. I wanted to give case processing on it a try!

Overall Set-Up
Case processing on the XL750 is unconventional but it can be done. I’ve utilized the RL1100 and CP2000 as well as fully-automated presses for this task before, but never the 750.
I set up a casefeed with a .300 Blackout case feed adapter.
I 3D printed my own, though Dillon does offer a variety of adapters.
Station one holds a Dillon auto-centering decapping die while station two holds a full-length sizing die with the expander ball removed.
This is recommended when using a trimmer, which I set up in station four with a .300 Blackout trimming die. (The RT1500 trimmer also takes up station three.)
Station five is case ejection.
As I mentioned, the XL750 was not designed for case processing and doesn’t have the room for any extra steps like swaging.

Most reloaders keep case processing simple or perform one operation at a time in bulk. The setup I chose to use covers the bare minimum.
I set the trimmer to 1.352”— 1.348” is the lowest you can trim to. I chose a trim length on the lower end of the spectrum for greater forgiveness while resizing.

I also connected a vacuum to the trimmer to collect the shavings.

With everything going on, I chose to wear ear protection during this process.
Case-Processing
I stopped at the top of each stroke to add a little dwell time and allow the trimmer to do its work.
You can set this as you wish on automatic machines. Everything ran pretty smoothly.
I had to make some case feeder adjustments to prevent cases from feeding upside down, but had no other issues making it through my heap of .300 Blackout brass.
I could tell that some primers were more stubborn than others, but the decapping die handled it with ease.
About the Dillon Auto-Center Decapping Die
Dillon’s new shuttled auto-centering decapping dies may look familiar.
If you hadn’t heard, Dillon Precision acquired the intellectual property for FW Arms’ decapping dies and is now producing them! They are the same quality dies as before but in black oxide with blue Cerakote. These dies have less down time during processing and sell for the same price as they did with FW. Spare parts are available on Dillon’s website and these dies come with a lifetime warranty!
There are two sizes of decapping dies available: standard and large (up to .338 Lapua). Both come with two decapping pins and two wrenches.
While you can use these dies on a single-stage press, they work better as you “scale up.” They are great for automated machines like the DA3000 as well as for high-volume machines like the RL1100, Super 1050, and CP2000.

WHY THE DILLON AUTO-CENTER DECAPPING DIE?
The patented self-centering shuttle uses a concave design to grab the case as the shellpate moves up (or the toolhead moves down). The concavity in the shuttle self-aligns the case relative to the decapping, meaning the pin and flashhole are perfectly aligned. This gives you consistent, reliable, and fast depriming with every cycle of the machine.
Die includes two (2) pin wrenches and two (2) spare decapping pins.
Loading and Shooting
After processing all of my cases on the Dillon XL750, I used the Dillon 550C to quickly load some .300 Blackout featuring Berry’s 220 Grain Spire Point Bullets over 12.0 grains of Hodgdon’s CFE BLK.
Be sure to always reference multiple sources of manufacturer data before loading.
All functioned through the CMMG Banshee.
