In this story, we take a look at what’s included with Lyman’s “Ultimate Reloading System” kit. Oh, and we also give Guy Miner some homework using this setup!

Equipment Highlights from the Ultimate System
All American 8-Station Turret Press
This press, the “Brass Smith All-American 8” is a part of the complete lineup of tools from Lyman under the “Brass Smith” brand. The 8-station capacity, cast iron construction, on-press priming system, ambidextrous design, and turret rear support for repeatable sizing and bullet seating are some of the great features. Plus, it’s made right here in the USA!
Here’s our video covering this press:
Gen 6 Powder System
For many reloaders, bench space is at a premium. This compact digital powder measure takes very little room and works great! It’s simple to use, quick, and accurate. I’ll be using it to measure light charges of fast-burning pistol powder and up to large charges for magnum rifle cartridges.
Universal Trimmer
This trimmer design has been around for years with proven reliability.
Pro 1200 Turbo Tumbler
The first piece of reloading equipment from the Lyman Reloading System that I put to work when I got home with it. Using walnut shell media I cleaned old, tarnished 308 Winchester cases with it, and later tumbled more 308’s and new 30-06 cases to remove the case lube. It’s surprisingly quiet for a tumbler, easy to use and easy to assemble.
50th Edition Lyman Reloading Handbook
One of the better loading manuals available with a wide variety of handloads including many cast-bullet loads for rifle and handgun. Also has excellent step-by-step instructions on the various handloading processes.
Universal Loading Block
This is one of those simple but necessary things. I like that Lyman kept the size of this one compact, to free up more bench space.
Case Prep Multi Tool
Terrific tool! Big enough to get a good grip on it, and the hollow handle unscrews to reveal more case prep tools. Chamfer, deburr, clean primer pockets and ream them as well, all with one well made handheld tool.
Bench Wrench
Lyman’s Bench Wrench fits all current Lyman die lock nuts and Lyman T-Mag turret support post. The wrench fits Lyman decapping rods and pins, seating screws and expander plug hex nuts. Also style Lyman & RCBS 7/8 x14″ nuts.
E-ZEE Prime Hand Priming Tool
I really enjoy using a handheld priming tool and have models from several manufacturers. This one is particularly easy to use and is large enough to easily handle the primers in bulky packaging.
Quick Slick Case Lube
A necessity for smooth sizing and preventing cases from getting stuck in dies!
Magnum Inertia Bullet Puller
At some point most reloaders need to pull some bullets from loaded cartridges. This tool will first be used to disassemble some 45 ACP ammo that I inadvertently over-charged.
Stainless Steel Calipers
A good tool just feels good in hand while being used. These seem to be precise and well made. My first task with them was measuring the old 308 cases to see if they needed to be trimmed. If cases get too long they can be difficult to chamber and pressures can become unsafe.
