SHOT Show 2020: Annealing Made Perfect

It’s exciting to see how technology can help precision-minded shooters and reloaders. One of the products I’ve adopted this past year that has helped me achieve greater precision is the AMP Mark II annealer from Annealing Made Perfect. While at the 2020 SHOT Show I got to meet Alex and Matt from Annealing Made Perfect, and had great discussions about their latest products and technology. Check it out!

AMP Mark II Annealer

At the center of AMP’s product offerings is the Mark II annealer. As I discussed with Alex in the video, this machine does the following:

  1. Analyzes brass characteristics before annealing
  2. Uses and induction coil and advanced software/technology to anneal brass the same way every time
  3. Allows “codes” to be re-used with the same brass
  4. Employs pilots (bushings) to precisely locate brass while annealing

Here’s an overview video I put together showing the Mark II in action (click HERE for full story)

AMP Mate

Want to run your AMP Mark II hands-free? The AMP Mate is what you need! I can’t wait to get my hands on one of these- just watching it work is a joy (watch the video above if you don’t believe me). AMP has just released an improved version of the AMP Mate (Amp Mate Revised) that makes this Mark II accessory work better than ever.

A couple cool things about the AMP Mate Revised:

  • It works with either a Dillon or Hornady case collator (from the corresponding case feed systems)
  • It sits on top of the AMP Mark II, so there’s no special installation (I love that)

Bullet Seating Force Profiler

Earlier this year I emailed Alex and Matt at AMP saying “wouldn’t it be cool to rig up a force gauge to a Wilson Seater die to see a graph of seating force over distance?”. They responded saying “We’re already working on that”. SWEET, I thought, that’s awesome. At the 2020 SHOT Show I got to see a pre-production prototype working right before my eyes. I can’t wait to get one of the production devices- and to share data with you all related to brass, bullets, cleaning, and bullet seating. If a picture is worth a thousand words, a graph can be worth much more than that!

Here’s the data that we collected seating bullets while shooting the video, amazing:

I’ll have a lot more AMP content coming up this year- don’t miss out on Ultimate Reloader updates, make sure you’re subscribed!

Thanks,
Gavin
