About the RCBS MatchMaster Powder Funnel Kit
I first saw the RCBS MatchMaster Powder Funnel Kit while touring RCBS with Gavin.
I was mostly behind the camera, but had an opportunity to see it before it was officially released at the 2025 SHOT Show!
RCBS’s Joe Dunning and Joel Hodgdon showed me a video they had filmed testing the RCBS funnel against an array of other funnels, but also sent us home with some to conduct our own testing with.
From RCBS:
Reloading just got faster, cleaner, and more precise. The RCBS MatchMaster Aluminum Powder Funnel Kit is the ultimate all-in-one solution for reloaders seeking speed, accuracy, and convenience. This kit includes the fastest powder funnel on the market, six precision-fit adapters for popular calibers (.22, 6mm, 6.5mm, 7mm, .30, 338), and a compact storage case to keep everything organized and ready for action.
The high-strength aluminum funnel is coated with a premium anti-stick finish, ensuring stick, ball, or flake powders flow smoothly into your cases with zero clogs or spills. Each adapter is custom-designed for a snug fit, so you can reload with confidence knowing every grain of powder lands exactly where it should.
Whether you’re a competitive shooter fine-tuning every load or an everyday reloader looking to speed up your process, the MatchMaster Funnel Kit is the perfect addition to your bench. Made in the USA and backed by RCBS’s Limited Lifetime Warranty, this kit is built to deliver performance you can count on.
What’s in the Box
The RCBS MatchMaster Funnel Kit includes the funnel in a hard case with laser cut foam holding six precision-fit adapters (.22, 6mm, 6.5mm, 7mm, .30, .338) in place.
These adapters cover right to the edge of the case mouth for the respective caliber, preventing sticking and clogging.
My Own Testing
I wanted to conduct a test similar to what RCBS had done.
I decided to use three different types of powders: a short stick, a ball powder, and a tricker one. I settled on CFE 223 for ball powder, Varget as a standard extruded powder, and IMR 3031 as a “tricky” one. IMR 3031 isn’t a powder we generally use at Ultimate Reloader, but I really like combining it with Berry’s Bullets for my .30-30 lever gun. My biggest qualm with it is that I’ve always struggled with powder bridging in a traditional funnel.
For each powder, I chose an appropriate charge weight for a .223 with a 55 grain bullet and recorded how many times the powder stuck/bridged in each funnel. I conducted this test 10 times with each powder and each funnel, using the RCBS MatchMaster to dispense consistent charges.
CFE 223
Starting my test with CFE 223,I tested the RCBS MatchMaster Funnel Kit against the Short Action Customs (SAC) modular funnel kit (with and without extension) and against a traditional Lee funnel.
In contrast to the RCBS and SAC funnels, the Lee funnel is designed to be universal, accommodating calibers from .22 to .45.

I had zero stoppages with the RCBS MatchMaster.
Short Action Customs recommends using their extension with ball powder, which definitely yielded better results than without. (Some powder did fall onto the table with the extension.)

Without fail, powder stuck along the top of the case mouth every time without the extension.
Results were not much better with the Lee funnel. The Lee funnel has such a loose fit that the powder will stick if you angle it at all.
Varget
Moving on to Varget, I had the exact same results with the RCBS MatchMaster and Short Action Customs funnel without extension.

Surprisingly, there were only four stoppages out of 10 with the traditional Lee funnel.
IMR 3031
Finishing my test with IMR 3031, I selected a charge weight of 30.5 grains.
I had zero stoppages with the RCBS and SAC funnels, but seven with the Lee funnel.
This didn’t surprise me as I had personally experienced similar results when I first started reloading with the same Lee funnel.
Conclusion
Stoppages and bridging while filling cases with powder can be both time consuming and troubling.
The RCBS funnel kit solves this issue with incredible value. The RCBS kit has an MSRP of $99.99 with six inserts.
In comparison, the Short Action Customs Modular Funnel costs twice as much with four inserts, $260 with six inserts, and $60 for the funnel itself.
This may be a good option for those who already own the SAC comparator set. Overall, I was incredibly impressed by the RCBS MatchMaster Funnel kit. It is high-quality and slightly faster than the SAC funnel kit at less than half the price of the equivalent!
