SilencerCo Hybrid: Overview and Setup

A suppressor is a very valuable “tool” for your firearms. But it’s REALLY REALLY expensive and difficult to obtain a suppressor in the USA. First you have the tax stamp ($200), the cost of the suppressor and accessories, and then you have up to a year wait (or even more). With all of the hassle involved, it makes sense to “get the most” out of your suppressor investment. And that’s where the SilencerCo Hybrid comes in!

SilencerCo Hybrid: Class-Leading Versatility

Perhaps the best reason to consider the Hybrid is its unique versatility. You can replace mounts and caps and configure this suppressor for just about any popular firearm with a threaded muzzle.

The Hybrid comes standard with the following:

  • Suppressor body
  • 5/8″ x 24 TPI direct thread mount
  • Piston housing (does not come with piston, those are sold separately)
  • 46 caliber end cap (works with smaller calibers, just not as efficiently)
  • Spanner wrenches

From the SilencerCo product page:

The Hybrid is the silencer for any platform. Compatible with pistol calibers from 9mm to .45ACP, rifle calibers from 5.56mm to .45–70 GOV, and many in between like .458 SOCOM, the Hybrid is both full auto and magnum-rated and can be used on pistols, rifles, and submachine guns. Boasting low-120 dB’s on .300 BLK and remaining hearing safe with .45–70 GOV, the Hybrid offers an unparalleled pairing of versatility and performance — a combination you’ve come to expect from SilencerCo products. The Hybrid is rated down to 16” barrels for .45–70 GOV and .458 SOCOM and down to 18” barrels for all magnum calibers up to .338 Lapua Magnum. With a slew of compatible accessories available, you can turn the Hybrid into the perfect silencer for any demand.

Why I Wanted a Hybrid

Much of my motivation to get a Hybrid was in the spirit of the introduction to this article. I love the idea of having a suppressor “system” that makes the most of each suppressor that I end up owning. I frequently shoot with friends, and the fact that I can configure the Hybrid for use along side my dedicated rifle and pistol suppressors means I can always have two rifles or two pistols setup for shooting with a friend. Awesome.

The Hybrid is also very tough, and can be used on every gun I own that has a threaded muzzle. Whats more, I can even make parts (like mounts and caps) if I don’t feel like buying them. Now that’s a great capability!

Lots more suppressor content coming this year including reloading so make sure you’re subscribed!

Thanks,
Gavin

  1. What type of sights (RDS/iron) do you use for the Hybrid 46 shooting on pistols? I read online that most suppressor height sights will not clear the diameter of the Hybrid 46.
