NEW RCBS MATCHMASTER Dies! Tested in 6mm Creedmoor

RCBS is constantly looking at ways they can make their products better. One such example is their latest die set: “MATCHMASTER”. Aimed at people reloading long-range precision ammunition, this die set builds on the familiar RCBS Gold Metal die set SKUs with a few key refinements. Here I’ll show these dies loading up some Starline 6mm Creedmoor cases!

You can check out the new lineup of MATCHMASTER dies at RCBS.com HERE:

MATCHMASTER dies are available in three different configurations:

  1. Full-length die sets
  2. Neck sizing die sets (like the 6mm Creedmoor set I showed in the video)
  3. Competition Seating die (without sizer)

The MATCHMASTER diesets build on the RCBS Gold Medal die set product family- and here I’ll walk through the changes RCBS made with these “MATCHMASTER updates”.

Updated Expander Ball Design and Material

One of the changes RCBS made with MATCHMASTER was to replace the conventional sizer die expander ball with a new Titanium Nitride (TiN) coated version that reduces friction and wear. I could definitely tell the difference when using this new die- it’s much easier to pull the expander ball through the necks of cases.

Competition Seating Die Updates

The RCBS Competition seater has a unique window seater and floating plug design that allows you to feed bullets either from the bottom (conventionally), or from the top (through the window). You can use either method, but RCBS designed this die for maximum concentricity when loading bullets from the top.

There are two updates for the MATCHMASTER Competition Seater:

  1. Markings are etched onto the die using a different method that’s cleaner compared to the old method.
  2. The thimble now has scalloped cuts rather than knurling- this looks nice and also makes it easier to grip the thimble, especially if you have case lube on your hands!

  1. I wonder if the new expander will be available for all their dies, seperately.. I bet no..
The other thing they could do (maybe do on some dies) is to use finer threads on the seater stem so a miniute change wont mean ).005
    change in bullet seating depth.

  2. Purchased the 22 creedmoor seater and the runout is bad, changes every stroke. Ive always used redding and gave this a chance, wont happen again
