The Intellidropper 2.0 contains all of the same features as the original Intellidropper, including Bluetooth and powder calibration, but with a new motor, screen and user-interface! I first spoke with Frankford Arsenal engineer Mike Lindsay at the 2025 SHOT Show about this tool, but this is my first time trying it for myself!

About the Intellidropper 2.0
The new stepper motor is quieter than the original DC motor, not to mention more powerful and more precise. Upgraded feet extend beyond the base of the unit and are easier to adjust than on the previous model.

Frankford Arsenal sought to maximize efficiency and storage space with this model, including small side cubbies for the two included 50g weights as well a dedicated brush holder near the rear of the unit.

For easier cord management, the power cord has been relocated from the side of the unit to the rear.

I especially like the flag indicator on the powder drain to clearly see if it is open or closed. This not only prevents unnecessary powder loss but makes it easier to open and close the drain. The new user-interface and keypad is extremely intuitive.

I didn’t have to reference the instructions to calibrate the scale, powder, or dispense charges!
From Frankford Arsenal:

The Frankford Arsenal® Intellidropper® 2.0 is the most advanced, intelligent, and precise electronic powder measure on the market today. The Intellidropper® features a proprietary Powder Calibration feature that optimizes powder flow for fast, accurate powder charges, making the Intellidropper® 2.0 almost two times faster than other powder measures on the market. Selectable auto, manual, and trickle modes throw charges up to 250 grains with +/- 0.1 grain accuracy. The see-through powder hopper holds more than 1lb of powder and features an improved powder drain valve. The Intellidropper® 2.0 is Bluetooth enabled and connects to the free Frankford Arsenal app making reloading easier than ever, spending more time loading and less time looking for load data. The user-friendly app neatly categorizes, organizes, and stores your load recipes for quick accessibility and sends them directly to the Intellidropper® 2.0. Its dual-screen display mirrors the Intellidropper® 2.0 screen with your device allowing the user to monitor and control the Intellidropper® 2.0 hands-free and remotely.

What’s in the Box
Accompanying the main Intellidropper 2.0 unit are a pan, shield, two 50g weights (with certificates), a powder brush, wall plug, and instructions.

The wall plug includes both American and International options.

Set-Up and Testing
I let the machine warm up, then removed the dust shield, weights, and entered calibration mode through system settings.

The simple on-screen instructions were very easy to follow.

Once I had calibrated the scale, I set my pan on the tray and zeroed it out.

This allows me to quickly look for my charge weight, not the weight of the charge plus the pan.

I decided to start with Hodgdon Longshot, a flattened ball powder. Selecting “Calibrate Powder” signals the Intellidropper 2.0 to “learn” the powder. The automated sequence should take approximately one minute to complete.

Data collected during this time allows the machine to dispense the “learned” powder more efficiently. Keep in mind that this setting is not saved. You should calibrate powder each time you switch to a different type. To verify the accuracy of the Intellidropper 2.0, I also weighed the dispensed charges on an A&D FX-120i balance from Cambridge Environmental. (I had previously zeroed the empty pan on the FX-120i.) The Intellidropper adjusted its speed to dispense exactly 4.0 grains of Longshot.

This charge weighed 4.08 grains on the precision balance, less than one tenth of a grain off.

A second charge of 8.0 grains on the Intellidropper measured 8.02 grains on the FX-120i. I was very happy with these results.

Moving to Varget, a stick/extruded powder that traditionally doesn’t meter as well as a ball or flattened powders, I performed another powder calibration. Simulating a 223 load, 25.0 grains dispensed quickly from the new model. This same charge weighed 25.04 grains on the FX-120i. I upped the powder charge to 45.0 grains, which weighed 45.06 grains on the precision balance— less than 0.01 grains off. The Intellidropper 2.0 continued its perfect charging streak, dispensing an even larger charge, 65.0 grains of Varget.

This came to 65.20 grains on the FX-120i, the largest variation we observed.

Keep in mind that these were quick checks, not comprehensive tests across charge weights.

Both Intellidropper models pair with a Bluetooth companion app. This app allows you to remotely set the charge weight in either grams or grains, and watch the action in real time.

This just provides a separate method of controlling the machine.

Users can also keep track of loads and components inside the app,
Conclusion
I was very happy with how Intellidropper 1.0 performed, so Intellidropper 2.0 only took it to the next level. Both Longshot and Varget dispensed quickly and consistently, each charge weighing exactly what I had specified – no overcharges.

I appreciated its speed and quieter stepper motor in addition to the handy powder drain flag and weight storage. The more precise FX-120i showed the charge weights were not exactly the specified value, but well within the acceptable accuracy range for this unit.
