About the BTi30

Bergara designed the versatile BTi30 to make shooting “as quiet, comfortable, and clean as possible.”

This 12.9 ounce suppressor is compatible with high-pressure centerfire rifle calibers up to 300 RUM (16” barrel) and features a direct thread muzzle-indexing mount for better repeatability on lighter-weight profile barrels.

This set-up ensures proper aperture alignment for increased precision— preventing misalignment issues with shoulder-indexed designs— and reduces carbon build-up.

Be aware that this unique design will result in a small gap between the muzzle and suppressor.

The BTi30 is also HUB mount compatible for use with the mounting system of your choice: direct thread, taper mount, or quick-detach. The suppressor ships with two stainless-steel nitrided end caps (closed and vented), a hot pad, and requires only a  ⅝” socket and wrench flats for maintenance.

3-D printing technology allowed Bergara to create a unique design with multiple baffle shapes throughout the length of the suppressor. Inside the BTi30 are clipped cone baffles that allow for more efficient “gas scavenging” when the bullet passes the aperture and a shorter overall length. Spiraling gas bypass results in reduced back pressure. A longer pathway slows the gas, leaving more time for the energy to be dissipated. This results in a quieter shot and lower recoil.

The BTi30 measures 1.8” in diameter and 6.5” in length. Bergara’s current testing has indicated the BTi30 has the highest db reduction rating for overall length. Exterior spiral fluting not only adds to the aesthetic but reduces overall cooling time and weight.

The BTi30 is currently offered in three different colors of high temperature C-Series Cerakote: Tac Grey, FDE, and Graphite Black.

From Bergara

The BTi30 is purpose-built for shooters who demand precision, reliability, and adaptability. Featuring interchangeable vented or sealed end caps, a HUB-compatible mounting system, and external fluting for enhanced cooling, the BTi30 delivers consistent performance across multiple platforms. Each unit receives a premium C-Series Cerakote finish, available in Graphite Black, Tactical Grey, or Flat Dark Earth, to ensure lasting protection and refined appearance.

VENTED DESIGN

Reduces peak pressure in the blast chamber, resulting in quicker recovery, enhanced accuracy, and less blowback to the bolt face and shooter. When precision and repeatability are the ultimate goals, a vented suppressor is the solution.

INTERCHANGEABLE END CAPS

Choose between vented (faster recovery, reduced blowback) or sealed (maximum sound suppression) configurations. Easily switch to match your environment or shooting style with a 5/8” socket.

MUZZLE-INDEXING MOUNT

Each suppressor ships with a muzzle-indexing mount that seats against the crown of the muzzle, preventing misalignment issues with shoulder-indexed designs.

Standard 1.375”x24TPI HUB mounting allow use with your preferred system—direct thread, taper mount, or quick-detach. Maximum adaptability without proprietary limits.

PRECISION OPTIMIZED DESIGN

Engineered to minimize point-of-impact shift and tighten groupings up to 25% versus traditional suppressors or bare muzzles, providing repeatable and consistent results for precision hunters and shooters.

C-SERIES CERAKOTE® FINISH

Durable, ultrasonic safe, high-temperature coating in Graphite Black, Tactical Grey, or Flat Dark Earth for corrosion protection and professional appearance.

Two Configurations

Users can choose between the vented and closed/sealed end caps, both of which ship with the BTi30. The vented endcap provides faster recovery (reduced muzzle rise) and reduced blowback.

The open/vented setup reduces recoil over 30% and reduces toxic gas exposure and firearm wear. Using the BTi30 with the closed end cap maximizes sound suppression, creating a lower tone for a more comfortable sound profile. These two options allow the shooter to quickly and easily customize their suppressor to their use-case.

Live Testing

Seeking to explore a range of rifles and action types, I tested the BTi30 with a Henry X Model 30-30, Bergara B-14R, AK-47, and Bergara CIMA CF bolt action.

The Henry X Model comes with a threaded muzzle, combining tradition with modern accessory compatibility. I added a Sightmark red dot and enjoyed shooting subsonic 30-30 loads in the industrial yard. (If you’re interested in shooting subsonic 30-30 with Berry’s 150 grain bullets, be sure to reference our dedicated story.)

.30-caliber cans are incredibly versatile. We added a step-up bushing to our Bergara B-14R and shot some 22 LR rimfire at D-M rimfire targets.

We’ve featured this rifle many times before, particularly as a solid option for NRL22

Note: I opted not to wear ear protection while shooting subsonic, but remember that this is an individual choice to make and hearing damage is always a risk.

I recently upgraded my PS AK-47 with WOOX’s FORTY SEVEN set. (Save 10% with code ULTIMATERELOADER10).

I had also added a M14x1LH – 5/8-24 RH thread adapter that allows the use of a variety of muzzle devices, including the BTi30! This was a very fun rifle to shoot suppressed and the longer WOOX forend allowed me to reach further forward for a more familiar feel and greater control.  Moving from industrial yard steel to the 100-yard bench, I mounted the BTi30 on a custom 6.5 Creedmoor to assess point of impact (POI) shift with Berger factory ammunition.

I wanted to see what difference there would be between shooting with a shoulder-indexed suppressor compared to the muzzle-indexed BTi30. The shots were less than an inch apart!

I was very impressed as I’ve personally seen five- and six-inch POI shifts between two shoulder-indexed suppressors!

Bergara CIMA CF and BTi30

Finally, I finished out my target shooting with steel rock chucks on the Ultimate Reloader ridgeline with both my custom 6.5 Creedmoor and 308 Winchester CIMA CF (complete with Hawkins Precision M5 DBM).

The BTi30 didn’t hamper my ability to reach out with either cartridge, making hits at 330 yards and 706 yards with the 6.5 Creedmoor.

One thing I immediately noticed with the BTi30 was how pleasant it was to shoot from the prone position. It greatly reduced recoil and didn’t have the concussive blast of a brake.

I improvised a hunting scenario with the lightweight CIMA CF, ringing steel at 200 yards off a tree branch. The BTi30 with closed end cap is ideal for hunting as it maximizes noise reduction, reducing hearing damage potential and making it harder for game to ascertain where a shot came from.

Recoil Rig Results

I decided to use the recoil rig to quantify the differences between the BTi30’s vented and closed end caps. This tool is based off of a design from Cal Zant from the Precision Rifle Blog and measures forces at the buttstock at up to 200,000 samples per second. It utilizes the DEWEsoft Sirius 8-Channel DAQ and a PCB Piezoelectronics load cell to capture directly comparable results.

DEWESoft DAQ

I’ve conducted many iterations of recoil testing over the years and have landed on magnum cartridges as the ideal standard. (Cartridges like 300 PRC and 300 Win Mag easily show meaningful differences in different ammunition configurations and more for simple comparison.) I conducted this test with a Bergara B-14 Wilderness HMR chambered in 300 PRC, starting with the bare muzzle. Peak force reached 1251.3 lbs.

Next, I installed the BANISH 30 in its nine-inch configuration. This cut peak forces nearly in half at 657.8 lbs. The BTi30 with closed/solid cap came in at 755.9 lbs. of peak force. The vented cap reduced the peak force another 55 lbs., bringing it to 699.6 lbs. It is important to note that the BTi30 vented cap configuration had a peak force close to that of the nine-inch BANISH 30 even though it is 2.5” shorter in overall length! I also wanted to introduce a muzzle brake to the test, choosing the Area 419 Hellfire as it has fallen in the middle of recoil reduction in our brake testing.

The Hellfire brought peak force down to 322.9 lbs. Remember that a suppressor will not tame recoil like a brake will, but offers other advantages including sound reduction and the concussive force brakes create alongside reduced recoil.

Conclusion

Bergara’s multi-use BTi30 includes a host of desirable features at an MSRP of $1099.

Perhaps most interesting are the advantages of the muzzle-indexing design and interchangeable endcaps. Being able to change between maximum sound suppression and maximum recoil reduction in one suppressor saves time and money!
