If you’re wondering what’s inside the course this article gives you a snapshot. Watch the video above for a more detailed walk through. The course has 3 main areas of focus:

  • Introduction
  • Evaluation
  • Accurizing

These are the 3 basic sections of the course – but, in this story let’s hone in on the evaluation process. If you’re wondering how well this evaluation on accurizing process works, don’t worry! We walk through the process in real time with an AR on the bench with you!

The results that Gordy and I saw were phenomenal. We took a CMMG resolute 6 ARC rifle from over a 1” group to shooting a 0.34” group after the accurizing work was done. That’s an impressive improvement. The AR platform can be quite accurate if the accuracy issues are diagnosed and addressed properly.

How did we get there? Well, here is each step of the evaluation process (as shown in the image above):

  • Introduction to the evaluation process
  • Gauging headspace
  • Measuring twist rate
  • Borescoping the barrel
  • Slugging the bore (includes casting slugs)
  • Checking gas tube fit
  • Checking muzzle brake alignment
  • Evaluating bolt lug contact
  • Bolt carrier fit
  • Testing ignition energy (primer penetration test)
  • Measuring receiver fit
  • Evaluating the trigger
  • Evaluating scope, scope rings, and fit
  • Conclusion of the evaluation

Once the evaluation has been completed, you will essentially have an accuracy score card for your AR.

Then, it’s time to prepare for the accurizing process. This gives you a solid scope of work. If you’re interested in the accurizing process you can go take the course now! Later, I’ll cover a brief overview of the actual work performed.
