Testing ThorroClean

I hadn’t cleaned my 6.5 PRC Bergara B-14 HMR in some time and started out by evaluating the barrel’s condition with the Lyman Borecam 2.0.

I carefully inserted the camera through the bore guide and noted significant carbon build-up where the case head sits.

I also noted some corroded copper fouling throughout the bore.

I placed a patch atop a 6.5 jag on my cleaning rod and fed it into the bore guide until it was in the solvent port.

I saturated the patch with ThorroClean Bore Flush and pushed it through the barrel.

Next I switched to a 6.5 bronze brush and liberally applied ThorroClean bore cleaner to it.

I ran this brush through the barrel 20 times and swapped to a .338 brush and some patches to clear out the throat area.

With the initial dirty work done, I cleaned out the bore guide and wiped down the cleaning rod before running the 6.5mm jag through the guide with some dry patches.
