About WOOX FORTY SEVEN

WOOX new FORTY SEVEN series is designed to bring a new look and feel to your AK/AKM.

It is compatible with most stamped receiver AK-47 / AKM / AK-74 pattern rifles with a fixed stock and equipped with a single tang trunnion (upper tang) or M1913 rail/adapter.

WOOX offers the FORTY SEVEN as a stock, grip, handguard or complete kit with two different stock options: Woody or Edge.

The folding Edge stock has a 3-slot M-LOK rail for accessory mounting. Both have an adjustable cheek riser, lightweight recoil pad, QD sling mount, and are crafted from American walnut.

The Woody stock is available in both fixed and folding configurations with a removable lower stabilizer bar for reinforced rigidity and improved balance. Both folding options include a 1913 Picatinny rail for the trunnion tang — rail and mounting hardware included.

The FORTY SEVEN has a precision laser-checkered grip and forend with a symmetrical design to accommodate both right- and left-handed shooters.

The forend also features M-LOK slots, a lightweight Technopolymer upper cover, and is available in two different lengths.

Hands-On

We selected the fixed Woody stock for our FORTY SEVEN upgrade as well as the long forend and premium grip. The buttstock and grip went on easily with tools from our Wheeler Professional Gunsmithing sets, but the forend required some milling for the perfect fit.

WOOX notes on their website that there are so many dimensional variations that this isn’t uncommon. I had to do the fitting where the forend connects to the receiver. The wood was slightly oversized, so it was easy to mill out with my Precision Matthews mill. I milled it to the height profile for a nice, friction fit and utilized the included shim plate to remove any extra slop.

I fired some rounds both suppressed and unsuppressed at steel in the industrial yard. The subsonic rounds sadly did not run with our PS AK-47. The buttpad worked wonderfully— I barely noticed any recoil even without the suppressor.

I also added a M14x1LH – 5/8-24 RH thread adapter that allows the use of a variety of muzzle devices. The longer forend allowed me to reach further forward for a more familiar feel.
