About the Hornady Click-Adjust Bullet Seating Micrometer

Once you start using micrometers on your rifle bullet seating dies, you’ll never want to go back to a die without one.

Hornady’s click-adjust bullet seating micrometer replaces the standard seating adjustment on all Hornady rifle seating dies, allowing you to upgrade the equipment you have!

Installation

I set up a conventional.22 ARC Hornady seating die on my Iron Press on an InLine Fabrication Ultramount.

This press features the Hornady Lock-N-Load retention system, making it incredibly easy to swap out dies.

I removed the thumb adjust stem and screwed on the click-adjust micrometer, securing it with a wrench.

I ensured the micrometer adjustments would be easily visible while loading and locked the die back into the press.

Next I backed the cap all the way off, raised the ram to the top of the stroke, and screwed down the cap until it contacted the shellholder.

At this point I turned it one or two more clicks for compression and got to work loading. (Side Note: Hornady’s bullet seating dies have a sliding collar that contributes to excellent concentricity.)

I used a dummy cartridge as a reference as I made minute adjustments to the seating depth with the micrometer.

I seated the same Hornady .224″ 62 grain ELD-VT bullets as I had used in the dummy cartridge.

Another method is to just barely seat the bullet into the case and continue measuring it and adjusting the micrometer until you reach your desired OAL or ogive measurement.
