Case trimming is one of the monotonous brass preparation tasks few look forward to. Hornady’s new high speed 3-in-1 power case trimmer was designed to make this process faster and more efficient without getting sore fingers.

About the Hornady High Speed 3-in-1 Power Case Trimmer
The Hornady High Speed 3-in-1 Power Case Trimmer is especially suited for high-volume reloaders— trimming, chamfering, and deburring cases from .22 caliber to .30 caliber all in one operation.
This saves both time and bench space.
Insert each case into the collet and use the click-adjustable handle to gently push each case forward.
Rotating the handle counterclockwise drops the trimmed round into a bin below, leaving one hand free to grab the next case.

What’s in the Box
The trimmer itself comes with a bin, instruction manual, shavings tray, Allen key, two collets, and four neck pilots (.22 caliber, 6mm, 6.5mm, .30 caliber).
A bin bracket comes pre-installed on the trimmer base. A QR code on the box takes you to a digital copy of the instruction manual.
Set-Up and Use
I wasted no time in mounting the Hornady High Speed 3-in-1 Trimmer to the Ultimate Reloader Bench System.
I decided to start by trimming some 6mm Creedmoor brass, selecting the appropriate collet and pilot (6mm – #24). To install the pilot, I first had to remove the machine’s protective cover and loosen a set screw to remove the trimmer head assembly.

The trimmer head assembly consists of a body and four set screws. One of these screws attaches the trimmer head to the motor; another is for the pilot.
The others are for each of the side blades that do the three-way cutting. I loosened the set screw and installed the pilot with the flat side facing the set screw.
Once the pilot was installed, I cracked the set screws for each of the carbide blades and pushed them in until they bottomed out against the shoulder of the pilot.
Finally, I slid the cutter head onto the motor main shaft and tightened down the set screw.

While the pilot is caliber-specific, the two collets have steps accommodating a variety of calibers. Trial and error help you find the correct one.

A reverse-threaded nut holds the collet in place, which allows cases to be secured.
The next step was to determine approximate length. I pushed the case into the trimming head until it stopped, then brought the stop bar back accordingly.

SAAMI’s case length specification for 6mm Creedmoor is 1.920” +/- 0.020”, indicating the shortest case we can have is 1.900”.
I ran a case through the trimmer and measured it.

It came back at 1.907”. I used the micro-adjustment knob to fine-tune the cut.
A few adjustments later, the trimmer was set!

All I needed to do was replace the protective cover and add the shavings tray.
Trimming was extremely swift and straightforward.
It did not take long to develop a rhythm with the machine.
Adjustments
To change from 6mm Creedmoor to a caliber like 6.5 Creedmoor, pull the blades out, replace the pilot in the trimmer head, push the blades back in, and lock them down.
This is the same procedure as installing the first pilot with the exception of removing the former. With two similar cartridges like 6mm Creedmoor and 6.5mm Creedmoor, the trim length may not have to be adjusted.
Moving to a cartridge with a different length and different case rim requires changing the collet as well.
Conclusion

I was very pleased with the Hornady High Speed 3-in-1 Power Case Trimmer. Not only is it fast, efficient, and easy to use, but it doesn’t take up much bench space and has a smooth motor.
Being able to turn the handle to simply drop the trimmed cases into a bin is another impressive feature!
