About VelociRadar
This radar uses ten chirp radar pairs to determine not only the velocity of the bullet, but how it’s slowing down and how it’s positioned. VelociRadar can calculate things like ballistic coefficients, it can create a customized dope chart based on the characteristics of your rifle and its barrel, plus the bullets that you’re shooting. And that means you can more quickly get on target.
This unit also has a companion app. This connects over Bluetooth and makes it really easy to manage devices, manage device settings, and start or stop strings. You can also recall data. Another thing you can do from the app is check for the latest firmware version and update accordingly. Caldwell is always making improvements to their algorithm and their software experience. All you have to do is click check for update and follow the instructions.
Quick Tip
Alignment is a little bit more critical with VelociRadar compared to other technologies based on the intricacies and characteristics of chirp radar. When you use the peephole for alignment of the radar to the trajectory of the bullet, you’re essentially going to align it with the target. It helps to back your head away from the peephole so that it is effectively a smaller opening. And that allows more precise alignment.
