About the RCBS MatchMaster Multi-Cartridge Loading Block

Loading blocks are one of those pieces of equipment people overlook or forget about until they need them. RCBS’s new MatchMaster loading block is a robust tool designed for reloaders who want a block with some heft over more affordable plastic versions.

Precision-machined in the USA  from solid 6061-T6 billet aluminum, these blocks have a beautiful finish as well as no-slip feet. Small holes in the bottom of each well give stray powder a place to go and prevent cartridge tipping.

The MatchMaster block fits both 223 Remington and 308 Winchester cartridge families so you only need one block to load a variety of cartridges. Both case rim diameters are machined into each hole.

The blocks are also designed to stack for convenient storage if you have more than one.

Double Duty Design

Upgrade your bench, and your efficiency, with the MatchMaster Multi-Cartridge Reloading Block from RCBS.  Holding two case sizes/diameters in a single block, this one tray does the job of two, streamlining your workflow without sacrificing capacity.

Each block holds .223 Remington and .308 Winchester cartridge families, plus any other cartridge with a .384 or .470 bolt face diameter.  Precision-machined from solid 6061-T6 high quality billet aluminum and proudly Made in the USA.

It’s stackable, ultra cleanable, with pass-through powder holes and built to last a lifetime.  With room for 50 cartridges and generous spacing for easy handling, your bench just got twice as efficient.

Hands-On Test

I started with some 6.5 Creedmoor and 223 cases. Both fit perfectly and stayed upright without rattling with handling.

I utilized two different methods of powder-charging to fill the cases: direct throwing with the UPM-3 competition powder measure and filling with the RCBS MatchMaster Funnel Kit. I held the loading block directly under the powder drop to facilitate direct throws, taking care not to double-charge any cases.

Another alternative is to dispense from the measure into a pan and fill each case with a funnel. This makes it easy to verify the charge weight.

An electronic powder dispenser weighs and dispenses the charge simultaneously, making it an ideal option for precision reloaders.

To test the efficacy of the flow-through holes, I poured a 40-grain charge of H4350 into a single loading block hole with a clear bin underneath to catch the powder. Everything flowed through extremely quickly with no stoppages – just like filling a case!

Conclusion

The dual-fit design of the new MatchMaster block makes loading for many popular cartridges incredibly efficient.

Having two blocks in one also saves on storage space! I appreciated the precision machining as well as the flow-through powder holes.
