About the Lyman Revolution HD Gun Vise
Lyman’s Revolution HD (Heavy Duty) Revolving Gun Vise starts with a robust base featuring stainless steel connecting rods and two accompanying clamping towers.

These padded clamps each have two inches of height adjustment and come with clamping blocks.
For AR work, the vise comes with a locking AR mag block.
From Lyman:

Lyman’s Revolution® HD Gun Vise is just what the name implies, a 16 ½ pound heavy duty rotating vise for all your gun care needs. The Revolution HD Gun Vise starts with sturdy aluminum frames and center beam, along with stainless steel connecting rods. These critical metal parts give the vise the added strength and stability gun owners are looking for. The vise can be rotated 180 degrees and locked in position every 6 ½ degrees, which provides extreme versatility in positioning your firearm in just the right spot! The padded gun clamps offer 2” of height adjustment and can be positioned from 3” to 17” apart. The Rev HD also features adjustable feet for a stable working platform on various surfaces. Plus, the Rev HD comes with an AR magazine well support post which spreads to lock firmly into the rifle, preventing unwanted movement.

Installation and Use
Installation was incredibly simple. I started by placing the first clamping tower over the locked center bar, installing a clamping block, and tightening the side screw.

I repeated the process to secure the second tower. Note that these clamps are extremely effective and stay in place once torqued.

Loosening the side screw releases the pressure and allows for clamp movement. The entire center bar is held with a side lock. Unlocking the bar frees it to rotate.

Lyman has built in a stop approximately every six degrees. Unlike a traditional vise, the Lyman Revolution HD allows the user to position whatever is being held at the best angle. Screws on the front of each tower control the tower height while two clamps at the top secure whatever is being worked on.

This vise fits right in with Lyman’s penchant for unique designs, joining their Accu-Prime system as distinctly innovative.

I decided to start with mounting an Athlon scope on my Horizon Firearms Vandal Dark II. I secured the rifle in the vise with maximum spread between the clamping towers, lowering the rear clamping tower and raising the front to level the rifle.

I used Lyman’s torque screwdriver to remount the scope and Lyman’s digital trigger pull gauge to verify the gun’s trigger weight.

The vise’s design made it very easy to collect an accurate trigger pull weight without having to support the rifle.

Once this was complete, I decided to make use of the AR mag block. This comes in two pieces with a clamp to connect them and slides both fore and aft.

This design allows the user to “spread” the two pieces to more firmly secure a rifle. The fit was tighter than I had anticipated, holding the rifle extremely well as I installed an Ultradyne muzzle brake.

I had removed the clamping towers for the AR work, but soon reinstalled them to tackle some pistol maintenance.

I retained the clamp tower heights I had set for the bolt action rifle, but moved the two towers closer together.

This allowed me to neatly secure a Canik pistol with the slide forward or back for optic installation or other tasks.
Conclusion
This versatile vise is nearly endlessly adjustable, accommodating a variety of tasks spanning rifle, pistol, and shotgun work and maintenance. It has a very user-friendly design with the added ability to rotate!
