SHOT Show 2025: New from Berger, Lapua, and Vihtavuori

Every year, I sit down with Berger Bullets’ Emil Praslick to catch up and see what is new for 2025. Highlighted below are  some new offerings, but don’t miss out on some interesting discussion—watch the full video!

New for 2025

Berger

This year Berger is adding .30-06 and .300 WSM loaded ammunition to its lineup. Both calibers will have hunting and target offerings. I’m currently halfway through a .300 WSM build so I am excited to try some out!

.300 WSM Build Components

Berger ammunition featuring Berger bullets and Lapua cases has always performed exceptionally well for me. For reloaders, shooting Berger or Lapua ammunition leaves you with once-fired Lapua cases!

Also new this year is a bullet for the .277 SIG Fury, the civilian version of the Next-Generation Squad Weapon (NGSW) 6.8. This .277 bullet is a 150 grain hybrid with an approximately 0.3 G7 BC, designed with accuracy in mind. This is significant as target competitive solutions have repeatedly been applied to military applications. This bullet has the potential to do just that.

Lapua

A Lapua 6mm GT case will be available this year as well as a 6mm Dasher and 7mm PRC.

The 7mm PRC was the most requested case in 2024! On the bullet side, Lapua is releasing a brand new bullet, the MaxRange Target OTM.

The first offering is a 144 grain  6.5 mm bullet with a G7 BC of 0.335.

Vihtavuori

Though not a new powder, Vihtavuori will be producing more N568, a general-purpose magnum powder this year.

N570 was the older, legacy powder in that burn rate range, but its longer kernels caused bridging in any volumetric powder measure. N568’s kernels are shorter and it has a different burn rate.

While not a new product, Capstone has made it a priority for some of their more popular bullets, like the 6mm 105 grain hybrid, to be readily available on store shelves.

This is what Praslick called a “Herculean effort” and something they want consumers to know. Berger is running more machines and two manufacturing shifts, but this does not mean a loss in quality. A sampling from each lot of bullets made is tested in a  300m tunnel in a known rifle with a known accurate load.
