First Impressions

Out of the box, I noticed the quality fit and finish of the Bergara BMR-X right away. The rubberized stock has a pleasing feel to it, and I love the way that this rifle “bridges the gap” between the BMR and B-14R rifles in Bergara’s rimfire lineup.

From Bergara:

It offers the best precision rimfire rifle configuration in its class. This rifle is for shooters who want the best ergonomics for accurate shooting and plinking while not spending the money on a full size (Rem 700) rimfire rifle. Enthusiasts looking to shoot in rimfire series competitions will now have a more affordable option with forms similar to those found in the B-14R. Small game hunters will find they like the weight and ergonomics of the carbon fiber version while still having the stock shape of a precision rifle that allows for more accurate shots.

Key Features

Enhanced Stock

The BMR-X’s rubberized stock is ergonomically designed, making it comfortable to shoulder, whether you’re shooting offhand, from a tripod, or from a bench.

Adjustable Trigger

Bergara equips the BMR-X with an adjustable trigger, allowing shooters to fine-tune the pull weight to their preference. This level of customization is a boon for precision shooting, where consistency is key. Here you can see our TriggerScan TS-11 data from the BMR which also has Bergara’s Performance Trigger: (default factory setting)

The fact that this trigger is adjustable is great because it can be tuned to suit a variety of different shooters each with their own trigger pull weight preferences.

Threaded Barrel

The rifle’s threaded barrel comes ready for muzzle devices or suppressors, adding versatility for those who want to minimize noise or recoil, or to use a tuner. The threading is 1/2 x 28 rimfire (different threaded length compared to centerfire 1/2 x 28).

Magazines

Bergara includes two magazines with the BMR-X: a 5-round and a 10-round option. This dual-magazine setup caters to a variety of shooting scenarios, from precision bench shooting to competition shooting scenarios like NRL-22.

Athlon Midas Tac 5-25x56mm Scope

The scope I selected for use with the BMR-X was the Athlon Midas TAC 5-25x56mm scope! In fact, we’ve published a dedicated story covering this scope which you can read HERE.

Here’s the video from that story:

From the Athlon Product Page:

The big brother in the Midas TAC family, this 5-25×56 first focal plane scope gives you even more versatility. A minimum parallax of 25 yards and 32 Mils of elevation travel makes this scope perfect for close range rimfire or long range engagement with standard and magnum calibers. HD glass and advanced Fully Multi-Coated lenses enhance target appearance at all distances. A true precision Zero Stop for a repeatable return to zero and a capped windage turret give confidence you’ll be able to make the shot. This Midas TAC 5-25×56 Model has APRS3 first focal plane MIL reticle in it.

    • Non Illuminated Reticle

On the Range

The Bergara BMR-X excels on the range, delivering impressive accuracy and reliability. We paired the rifle with premium match-grade ammunition to see how it performed, and the results were outstanding. Groups at 50 yards were consistently tight, showcasing the rifle’s match chamber. Here are my 50 yard results with Lapua Center X & SK High Velocity Match:

With our first 5-shot 50 yard group measuring just 0.220″, I was surprised and excited to see this rifle shoot so well right of the gate!

Recoil is virtually nonexistent, as expected with a .22LR, making the BMR-X an excellent choice for new shooters and seasoned marksmen alike.

Applications

The BMR-X is a versatile rimfire rifle that caters to a wide audience. Hunters will appreciate its lightweight build and threaded barrel for suppressed shooting. Precision shooters will value its accuracy and adjustable trigger. And for casual plinkers, the rifle’s ergonomic design and reliability make it a joy to shoot.

Bergara’s Rimfire Lineup

Bergara now has three different product lines in the rimfire category, each offered in .22LR, .22 WMR, .17 HMR:

  • BMR: A precision rimfire rifle at the most affordable price point
  • BMR-X: Enhanced version of the BMR with upgraded stock and heavier barrel
  • B-14-R : Bergara’s flagship rimfire rifle with Remington 700 footprint and HMR stock

This lineup now gives shooters more options at different price points, and there’s a rimfire rifle in this collection for almost anyone!

Final Thoughts

Bergara has delivered a standout performer with the BMR-X .22LR. Its combination of cutting-edge materials, thoughtful design, and exceptional accuracy makes it a top contender in the rimfire market.
