These are no-doubt difficult times for everyone. It’s hard to believe how quickly and deeply the world has been affected by the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic. My heart goes out to all of those suffering around the world.
I thought this would be a good time to give a quick personal update, and also share some thoughts about how we can come together as a community.
As stated in the video, myself and my family are doing well. And Ultimate Reloader is moving full steam ahead! There won’t be a slow-down of content, just some minor delays on some projects/reviews. I am very grateful for that.
Some things I’d like you to consider in these difficult times:
Buy Only What You Need
I know it’s super-difficult when everyone is feeling anxiety over what will happen- but I’d like to ask everyone to consider purchasing only what you need. Why? Because to the extent we can avoid the “panic buy” and “hoarding” scenarios is to the extent we can lessen the shortages, price gouging, and hysteria. I feel confident that we will weather this storm as a [gun owning] community, and resources will rebound accordingly. Hopefully you have thought ahead and have essentials on-hand. If you need one of something, please buy just one. Leave resources for others that may be in greater need.
Sharing, Giving, Trading
Now is a great time to get “creative” for some of the supplies you may need or want. Do you have a friend or family member you could trade with? That would be a great alternative to “panic buying”. Do you know if someone that needs something you have that you don’t need? Please consider sharing. It’s a great feeling to give. Generosity can be difficult, but I’ve never regretted being generous.
A Long-Term Approach to Preparedness
You may be wishing you had prepared better for Coronavirus (I know there are some things I would have done differently). The best thing to do now is to think ahead and make a plan for the “next crisis”. I’m going to think about food and supplies, make a plan, and stock/prepare over an extended period of time. If we can show foresightedness and patience with our preparedness, that will be the best outcome for everyone.
I hope you are making the most of these strange times. I took the opportunity to shoot steel with my daughter this week. We covered all of the fundamentals of long-range rifle shooting and had a blast. If you have thoughts about how we can come together as a community, or specific thoughts about how to get through the crisis, please leave a comment!
Don’t miss out on Ultimate Reloader updates, make sure you’re subscribed!

Gavin
Gavin,
You are so right when it comes to weathering this pandemic. Your message of “buying only what you need” is something that really needs to be taken to heart. I just started in the reloading world and am in the process of gathering my necessary tools and equipment. Your videos are helping me make the right choices and when it comes to setting up the equipment, I will review your videos to guide me through the process. I recently acquired the new Lee APP press strictly for depriming my cases prior to cleaning them even though I know it can do more. Looking forward to when you put out possibly an unboxing and set up video on the site. Anyways, thanks again for the videos and valuable information you share. Please take care during these uncertain times. God Bless.
Did that and it took me 10 trips to the store to get what I needed. Sorry to say that similar advice as yours has not worked out to good for some folks. LOL
