Savage rifles have been solid performers in my personal experience. Savage rifles have a reputation for great features, exceptional accuracy, and offer a huge selection of aftermarket accessories and upgrades. For 2019, Savage has introduced some new models to their lineup, and I got the story straight from Savage engineer Joe at the 2019 SHOT Show!
For 2019, Savage has greatly simplified their bolt-action rifle lineup: the “Savage 110” will be the standard model name from which all of the bolt action rifles will be derived. Here are a couple highlights from the Savage 2019 rifle lineup:
Savage 110 High Country
The Savage 110 High Country builds on some Savage fundamentals: AccuStock (Savage’s highly effective bedding platform) as well as AccuFit (a system that allows for adjustments like length-of-pull, and comb height). High Country additions include a spiral fluted barrel, TrueTimber Strata synthetic stock, and a very cool coyote brown PVD coating on the barrel, receiver and other critical parts. If you’re looking for a hunting rifle that will “blend” the new Savage 110 High Country is worth a close look!
Savage 110 Prairie Hunter
The Savage 110 Prairie Hunter is Savage’s first bolt-action rifle offered in a 224 Valkyrie chambering. This is GREAT NEWS! Having built a bolt-action 224 Valkyrie rifle this year, I can tell you there’s a lot involved in sourcing/modifying the proper bolt and magazines. Savage has made this a turn key proposition with this new rifle model!
Thanks Joe for taking the time to talk with me, and hopefully I’ll be showing you all more hands-on stories with Savage rifles this year! If you have something you’d like to see, please leave a comment!
