As a competitor, I am always looking for an edge on the range. In this video, I test Hornady’s new AEROMATCH bullets, covering specs, collecting lab data, and recording accuracy results of the 6mm 105-grain AEROMATCH.

Lab Results
I tested the 6mm 105-grain AEROMATCH. This particular bullet has a G1 BC of 0.536, very close to that of similar bullets, and a required twist rate of 1:7 to 1:8.

I took length, weight, and diameter measurements across a sample of bullets to audit consistency. I was very pleased with the diameter SD.

Reloading and Shooting
I prepped some Lapua cases and conducted a quick half-grain powder test. I dispensed various charges of Varget using an RCBS ChargeMaster Link, and seated the Hornady AEROMATCH bullets using an Area 419 ZERO press.

I fired these through Gavin’s custom 6mm x 47 Lapua build featuring a 6mm 1:7.5 Krieger barrel, BAT Hammerhead action, WOOX Furiosa Ultra chassis (ULTIMATERELOADER10 to save 10%), and Hawkins Precision M5 DBM.

The groups started out large, but as I increased the powder charge, the groups shrank. During this test, three shots at 100 yards with 36.5 grains of Varget went into 0.120”.

I loaded more of this ammunition and fired six different strings. Across all strings, my average velocity was 3,103.3 fps with a 15.17 fps SD and 16.12 fps ES. These are great numbers! As expected, some groups were better than others, but the average three-shot group size at 100 yards measured 0.61”.
Conclusion
My results across six different strings with very little load development shows that Hornady AEROMATCH bullets can shoot, and have a lot of potential. Perhaps most important is that these are available now, in competitor-friendly quantities!
